OL TOKYO 2021 / COVID-19

I dagens pressemeddelelse fra IOC (International Olympic Committee) har man meldt nye datoer for afholdelse af OL ud. Der er ved planlægningen af denne nye dato taget højde for tre primære forhold ifølge IOC:

• Beskyttelse af sundheden for atleter og alle andre involverede, og for at beskytte indsatsen mod COVID-19 virussen
• Beskyttelse af atleternes interesser og af OL
• Den globale sportskalender

Præsidenten for IOC, Thomas Bach, har meldt følgende ud i forbindelse med offentliggørelsen af de nye datoer.

“I want to thank the International Federations for their unanimous support and the Continental Associations of National Olympic Committees for the great partnership and their support in the consultation process over the last few days. I would also like to thank the IOC Athletes’ Commission, with whom we have been in constant contact. With this announcement, I am confident that, working together with the Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, the Japanese Government and all our stakeholders, we can master this unprecedented challenge. Humankind currently finds itself in a dark tunnel. These Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 can be a light at the end of this tunnel.”

PL RYKKES OGSÅ

Samtidig er PL også rykket. Det er nu planlagt til at blive afholdt den 24. august til den 5. september 2021. 

VM I ATLETIK RAMT AF UDSKYDELSE

VM i Atletik som er hvert 2. år skulle ifølge planen afholdes den 6. august til den 15. august 2020. Det ville falde sammen med OL, og World Athletics har netop meldt ud, at VM flyttes til 2022. En dato er endnu ikke fastlagt.

“Everyone needs to be flexible and compromise and to that end we are now working with the organisers of the World Athletics Championships in Oregon on new dates in 2022 for our World Athletics Championships.  We are also in discussions with the Commonwealth Games Federation and the European Championships.”, lyder det fra World Athletics i en pressemeddelelse i dag.
